NYC Concert Benefits Mercy and those affected by Hurricane Sandy

On Monday November 19th at 8.00pm, a traditional Irish music pub session will be recreated on the stage of the Irish Repertory Theater in New York City.

Following last year’s successful concert, a group of top-class musicians, sean-nós dancers, and a storyteller are putting their talents together to present an entertaining night to help the poorest of the poor in the slums of Bangkok and those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Among the musicians taking part this year are recently crowned All-Ireland Button Accordion Champion Martin O Connell, legendary piper Ivan Goff, Professor Mick Moloney, Caitlin Warbelow, Gabriel Donohue, Dan Neely, Marie Reilly, Martin Daly, Donie Carroll, Victor Cuneen, Johnny Jackpot, and a host of others. Sean-nós dancer Megan Downes and friends will grace the stage, Mairtin de Cogain will spellbind us with his stories, and some surprise guests will pop in.

Proceeds will assist The Mercy Centre in Bangkok, Thailand and The Graybeards, a non-profit Rockaway community organization.

Father Joe Maeir, President and co-founder of the Mercy Centre HDF, and his incredible staff of devoted persons work to give every child the love and care she or he deserves. Rescued from the streets of Bangkok, these children have been spared a life of misery and hopelessness.

The Graybeards is comprised of a diverse and representative cross section of Rockaway residents, comprising of lawyers and doctors, cops, firemen, carpenters and electricians. Every single dollar donated will go to the needs of the local community.

We know that some of you may have already donated to this or your own favorite charity, so we would like to give you your own choice by making a check payable to either MERCY CENTRE USA or GRAYBEARDS. Both groups have 501 (c) 3 status, so all donations to these very worthy charities are tax deductable.

The show, which will be compered by well-known entertainer Cathy Maguire, will be preceded by a reception at 7PM, all for the admission price of $50. Tickets can be purchased by calling Donie Carroll at 917.723.7488. Tickets are not available at the Irish Repertory Theater.

We look forward to seeing you there, for a night of music and giving back!
